Introduction
The City of Adelaide Pipe Band was formed in 1991 for the express purpose of creating a premier pipe band to represent our state in regional, interstate and overseas contests, as well as to provide a high quality band for public performances. The band wears the Blue Ramsay tartan and items of uniform featuring the coat of arms of the City of Adelaide.

Patron
The Patron of the band is the Lord Mayor of the City of Adelaide, Michael Harbison. The band thanks the Lord Mayor and the Adelaide City Council for their generous support.

Notable Performances
As the State's premier pipe band, the band has had the opportunity to perform in a number of notable events, including:

  • Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Concerts
  • Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Brittany, France (see below)
  • John Farnham Concerts
  • Royal Adelaide Show
  • Australian F1 Grand Prix

In 2006, the band performed at the world's largest celtic festival, the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, France. The band proved to be popular with the crowds of spectators that numbered around 700,000 over 10 days.

Contest History
In its relatively short history, the band has enjoyed much success on the contest field. Highlights include winning fourteen South Australian Championships, four Victorian Championships and one Australian Championship title. The band has regularly competed at the Ringwood, Geelong, Ballarat and Daylesford contests throughout the years. The trip over the border into Victoria has proved to be successful on many occasions. After winning the Grade 1 contest at the Australian Pipe Band Championships in 1998, in 1999 the band competed in the New Zealand and South Pacific Championships (Dunedin, NZ), obtaining 4th place overall.
