The City of Adelaide Pipe Band offers musical tuition to those who would like to join the band. Tuition is available for Bagpipes, Snare Drum, Tenor Drum and Bass Drum.
Our aim is to foster, encourage and develop piping and drumming by example and teaching. For a pipe band to survive, a steady stream of learners is needed, and to this end, we treat our Development Corps with the highest importance.

The City of Adelaide Pipe Band Learners Programme has been developed to ensure that each student receives thorough tuition of the highest quality, where proper technique and methods are a focus. Every one of our tutors is either a current or ex City of Adelaide Pipe Band contest piper or drummer.
Every one of our students is exposed to tuition in exercises and technique, instrument care & maintenance, musicality and phrasing. In addition, each student will study recognised music theory (RSPBA) and each of our students are strongly encouraged to test this by sitting their Australian Pipe Band Association (APBA) piping and drumming exams.
The main aim of all our learners is to aspire to, and work towards promotion to our performance, and competition bands. Of course, this is a long path, and requires a high level of commitment, discipline and most importantly practice!
Learners classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm. The City of Adelaide Pipe Band practice at Scotch College, Blythewood Road, Torrens Park (see maps below).
