This is a wonderful idea to produce the great work. I tried and really enjoyed. Ok, I hate to be that one guy, but I nearly hated this whiskey.

There was no good flavor to be found for me. Straight, some water, on the rocks, nothing worked. I'm going to give it a 2 star because I'm hoping I got a bad bottle.

Yes, I'm a bourbon fan most of the time, but I had high expectations that weren't met. It really is possible that it's just my tastes aren't sophisticated for this, but I was let down.

I've had more expensive whiskey that I enjoyed a lot less. Smooth, sweet and buttery, with a little spice. Not your average Irish but worth every penny.

Paul Kirmmse Whaletown,BC. I discovered this in the duty free shop in Shannon Airport. I was greeted by a young fellow handing out samples one of which I tasted.

I took another just to make sure and could not believe how smooth it is. I just discovered this website and am comforted in knowing I can order it sent to me in the States.

Very smooth tasty dram with a lovely fruity undertone due to the sherry finish. So I just started drinking Irish Whiskey.

The usual suspects of Red Bush and Jamiesons. Saw this Double Barrel on sale, the label was a good read so I really enjoy this fruity whiskey and I'll buy it again.

Let me get one thing out of the way before I state my review: Black Bush is my go-to when I'm at home. I enjoy the direct, unvarnished flavour of this sherry cask whiskey.

When I'm on the road, it's Johnnie Walker Red because I can never find someone stocking BB : slightly smoky, and it fulfils the basic requirements of drinkable whiskey.

Both are well made, slightly complicated, rugged and handsome enough to get by, just like me. So understand that as a bias in my review.

It has some spice to it, that's for sure. Unlike my go-to whiskeys, this has a spicy aroma: vanilla; nuttiness; cinnamon? Now, don't let that last aromatic aspect put you off.

This is good whiskey. Sure, if you're like me and God help you if you are , the first whiff might be a bit of a surprise: where is the smoke?

Where is the peat? Where is the unveiled anger? Why does this even have something to smell at all?

Well, as my wife usually reminds me, I shouldn't expect everything to be the same, day in, day out. I looked at her as she spoke, as I had everyday for the last seventeen years and thought, wise words.

Perhaps there were commercial pressures involved in bringing them all to market so early, but I think patience and time would have helped all these releases immensely.

Interesting read. It is still pretty much Jameson and Teeling here. Thanks for the comment. But of course this is a problem affecting lots of whiskies right now, not just the Irish brands.

Thanks for being honest. There is one Irish blogger in particular who never gives a bad review everything is great or good I suppose they fear the free invites to tastings and bottles will dry up if they give an honest appraisal of anything which is sad because they could well afford to buy the bottles and honestly appraise them.

It was this that actually motivated me to start writing about whiskey. After buying whiskies that elsewhere were universally praised but upon consumption were found severely wanting I decided to try to add my voice to help counteract the false platitudes.

These people are looking at it from the wrong perspective. Eventually, hopefully, the tide will turn and the whisky industry will actively seek you all out to test their mettle.

A positive review here will be the only really meaningful endorsement in the business. It would be nice to think that this would be the case in the future.

Where would the fun be if you could only read Malt? They really had some magic in the 7 and 13 year olds.

I hope more of this can be produced in some fashion at a later stage. Possibly due to them running out of the old stock or egarness to hit the shelves, I think they rushed into the new pots too soon.

To my taste, it was a little too young, almost grainy, lacking definition and unrefined. Not everyone gets it right first time round I suppose and there does seem to be a sense of a lack of patience here….

At any rate I hope with time that this drop will improve greatly if left to mature appropriately. It gives me no pleasure in saying so however.

The whiskey is bottled at 43% but there was no mention of colouring or chill-filtration. A quick message via Instagram and the reply came back that this is untampered with, bar the reducing water.
